Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Scar Camouflage a tattoo?

  • Scar Camouflage is a form of cosmetic or medical tattooing using flesh tone ink with a tattoo machine.

How many sessions do I need?

  • Sessions vary in length and number depending on the severity of the area requiring treatment. Most cases only require 2-3 follow up session 45-60 days after the initial treatment to achieve desired results. With each session, our bodies naturally shed about 40-50% of the pigment. Since we use flesh-toned ink on damaged skin, multiple sessions may be necessary.

What to expect right after treatment?

  • Immediately after treatment, the area may be red, swollen, and possibly raised. During the first and second weeks, you may notice the area appears darker than your skin tone and begins to scab as the ink absorbs into the treated area. Results won't be visible right away, so it's essential to trust the process, follow aftercare instructions, and allow time for healing. The process requires patience, but the results will be worth it.

How long will the results last?

  • For most clients, the treatment will last 5-7 years if proper after care is followed. After several years a touch-up might be needed

Will there be downtime after the procedure?

  • This is a non-invasive procedure requiring minimal to no downtime allowing you to return immediately to your life routine following the after-care instructions.

How do I know if I Am a good candidate?

  • If your scar or skin imperfection is smooth and primarily flat

  • If your scar is healed and no longer pink/red or changing color

  • If your scar is a lighter shade than the skin surrounding it

Does Medical Camouflage hurt?

  • There is zero to minimal pain during the procedure. Your skin may be numbed prior to the treatment so that you remain comfortable.
